Queen St Delicatessen is owned and run by Dan Holland with his able and willing team of staff. Dan moved down to the South West in 1992 to complete a teaching qualification at Bath University before getting a job in the The Blue School, Wells as a maths teacher the following year.
Fifteen years on, the dream of a food related career became a reality with the purchase of ‘La Maison du Fromage’ in Wells. Having toyed with various other foodie ideas is seemed as though all Dan’s wishes had come true when the local deli was put up for sale and he finally took the plunge to leave his secure job and enter the scary world of running his own business – all at the time when the economy took a down turn!
Not to be put off, Dan threw himself wholeheartedly into the new venture, keen to re-brand the old cheese shop as a treasure trove of fine food and local produce of a much greater range.
The re-naming of the shop was equally important to communicate this new message to the customers of Wells and the surrounding areas. A year or so on and things are looking tasty at Queen Street Delicatessen!
